CAR Management (Corridor Access Request)
The CAR process can be a little painful at times, so we offer this service to make your life easier.
Submitica or MyWorkSites
If you are planning to carry out any work or activity that affects the normal operation of the road, footpath or berm, you must apply for a Corridor Access Request (CAR).
A CAR is a permit that helps to ensure that all road worksites meet local regulations, and that they are as safe as possible for workers, motorists, pedestrians and cyclists. Some examples of activities requiring a CAR are:
- Placing a skip bin or container on the berm.
- Installing a new stormwater drain that leads into the road corridor.
- Using or parking machinery such as cranes, cherry pickers and water blasters on the road corridor.
- Fixing power poles
- Activity involves digging, drilling or resurfacing.
Pretty much anything that is going to activity will affect the normal operation of the road, footpath or berm (within 5m of the edge of road)
Process to follow:
- Click here and you will be taken to the TMP application page, please fill this in and once we have received it and taken a quick read over we will give you a quick call.
- Once we have all the info, we will design your TMP (Traffic Management Plan)
- Once finalised, we will submit this to the CAR system (you will get a email once loaded) Approvals can take 3-15 days.
Additional Info:
- From time to time the local council may want more info, if they do we will be in touch during this time, we will amend the TMP and reload it.
- Once the TMP is approved you can do your work on the required days.
- We will send you a copy of the TMP approvals so you can pass onto your STMS.
If you need hand with setting up the closure in the TMP we can arrange this for you anywhere in NZ.
We will start/finish the CAR within the system for you.
Any questions please just ask anytime.
