TTM Training Pathway

TTM Worker (US 31958)

  • The TTM Worker unit standard is intended for those assisting with maintaining a Temporary Traffic Management (TTM) worksite under supervision of the STMS. It begins with a classroom session followed by a practical assessment.

TMO-NP (US 31959) 

  • The teaching and assessment for Unit Standard 31959 is completed as a one-day theory workshop
  • Demonstrate knowledge of stakeholder and operational requirements for temporary traffic management

TMO-P Practical (US 31960) 

  • The TMO-P is a practical assessment intended for those progressing to a STMS role, or to maintain a worksite in the absence of the STMS. TMO-Ps can install a worksite where TTM is clear of the live lane.

STMS UNI (US 31961) 

    • The teaching and assessment for Unit Standard 31961 is completed as a two-day theory workshop
    • The training provides background information for an STMS. Explaining the requirements for the worksite under temporary traffic management. It is a theory-based qualification only and does not assess practical skills

STMS A/B – NP (US 31962)

    • The teaching and assessment for Unit Standard 31962 is completed as a one-day theory workshop
    • Explain the requirements for the worksite under temporary traffic management for a road environment as defined in CoPTTM. 
    • STMS NP provides the base knowledge for working in various road environments

STMS CAT A Practical (US 31963) 

  • This is a practical assessment for a category A road, direct the installation, maintenance, and removal of Stop/Go operation on a 60km/h or less road.
  • This is required for those needing to actively manage TTM work on Cat A roads - a single lane or multi-lane with speeds less than 60km/h.
  • Coaching – this is highly recommended

STMS CAT B Practical (US 31963)

  • This is a practical assessment for a category B road, direct the installation, maintenance, and removal of Stop/Go operation on a 70km/h or more road.
  • This is required for those needing to actively manage TTM work on Cat B roads - single lane speeds 70km/h or more, including passing lanes (but not high-speed multi-lane, or motorways or expressways).
  • Coaching – this is highly recommended
